ALTY travel to Worcestershire this Good Friday (3pm) as we face Kidderminster Harriers at the Aggborough Stadium in a crucial Vanarama National League clash.
The Robins (6th, 64pts) bounced back from a disappointing defeat to Gateshead with a resounding 4-1 victory against Wealdstone on Tuesday. George Wilson's thumping volley was the pick of the goals as Alty reignited their play-off push in fashion.
Meanwhile, Harriers (22nd, 43pts) picked up their fourth consecutive draw last Saturday as they left Wealdstone's Grosvenor Vale ground with a deserved point. Kiddy have struggled at home during their first season back in the National League, having scored just 18 times en route to four victories in 20 games.
The Gaffer
Ethan Ross is Parky's MOTM: “I thought that Ethan Ross should have got man of the match today, just on that ability to keep us in the game - a similar performance as against Boreham Wood. I'd certainly give (Ethan) the manager's MOTM. It is what a top keeper does when the team is not playing the best, he keeps you in the game and gives you a platform.”
Good Friday clash: “It has always been a tough game at Aggborough Stadium. I thought we were really unlucky the last few times we have been and hopefully our luck can turn this Friday. Phil Brown has got them fighting tooth and nail (to survive relegation) though, and they look to be a different animal to what we have played previously.”
Last time in the NL against Harriers
Altrincham 1-1 Kidderminster Harriers (Lewis Banks 28’)
Last October – Lewis Banks’ first goal for Altrincham helped the Robins rally to a point after conceding a shock opener in the second minute to Harriers.
Challenging weather impacted Alty's typically fluid attack and prevented a sixth straight Vanarama National League win in front of a bumper ‘Footy for a Fiver’ crowd at The J. Davidson Stadium.

Temporary road closures
To minimise disruption to our neighbours and to facilitate safe entry and exit for all supporters on Monday there will be brief temporary road closures in place after the game. Signs are now in place outside the stadium.
Moss Lane will be closed between Sandileigh Avenue and the Golf Road junction for 15 minutes after full time to facilitate safe crowd dispersal (circa 5pm for 15 minutes).
Easter Monday’s game is arguably one of the most important in our recent history and it is undoubtedly a massive game with our near neighbours also chasing a playoff spot. Due to the importance of this fixture for both teams we have put extra measures in place to create a safe and enjoyable match day experience for all spectators.
We look forward to seeing you getting behind the Robins this Easter Monday.

]]>We are among the beneficiaries, here at Altrincham FC, and we are immensely grateful for a level of backing that embraces all areas of the club, from the men's team and women's section to community activities and, of course, the iconic old stadium itself.
The Broadheath-based scrap metal experts had already enjoyed a couple of seasons as main shirt sponsors when a groundbreaking announcement was made in the summer of 2013 - Moss Lane was to become The J.Davidson Stadium.
That famous brand name, with the distinctive colours running through it, still sits proudly above the main entrance as the home of the Robins, and it is typical of J.Davidson that, in an age when stadium sponsors seem to come and go, their support remains as steadfast as ever.
When the historic deal was struck and made public, with Alty in the National League North at the time, J.Davidson contributed to the editorial output with a few observations that said everything about their unwavering commitment to ensuring local sport is the best it can be.
"Naturally, the agreement comes with obvious benefits for us as a sponsor," they wrote. "However, with this agreement, we were also keen to contribute to the financial stability of a club which is supported loyally by many of our customers.
"Altrincham FC has a very prudent approach to spending, vowing as a club never to spend money that they haven’t got. This deal will allow the club to really compete sustainably with the bigger spending clubs in the league and challenge for honours and let’s hope that, come May, we will be congratulating the team on reaching the Football League Conference Premier.
"Who knows where this sponsorship deal will take the team and what the future holds for our beloved football club, but what we do know as of today is that we are honoured to be sponsoring such a well-supported and prestigious local sports team and will be supporting them all the way."
We are delighted to be shining a light on their benevolence today as the latest subjects of our Partners In Focus series.
Business continues to boom for J.Davidson at their thriving hive-of-activity headquarters on Craven Road in Broadheath, but Harry Gibson found time to answer a few questions when we asked for an update on a partnership that is highly-prized by everyone at Alty.
Q: You have a remarkable record at J.Davidson for sponsoring local sport. Is that down to generosity, love of sport or pride in your local area - or maybe a combination of all three?
A: Well, as someone who has lived and worked in Altrincham all his life, Jamie (Davidson) does have an immense pride in the area, and he sees the club as an integral part of the town.
Q: How do you view the partnership, and how much does it mean to see your name appearing ever more prominently in and around the town and in the media?
A: To see the number of shirts being worn around the town, with our name across the front, and the exposure the club gives to their partners means a lot to us. It gives the company an invaluable exposure, and being allowed to have the naming rights to such an iconic stadium only enhances that.
Q: Can you remember when the partnership started and how it came about?
A: It's going back some 13 years! Geoff Goodwin, who was Alty chairman at the time, asked if we would be interested in supporting the club, and a subsequent conversation in 2011 with Grahame Rowley convinced us it was the ideal partnership for us, and everything went on from there.
Q: There have certainly been some marked improvements on and off the pitch since those early days - how much does it mean to a major sponsor such as yourselves to see the team thriving and being in and amongst the challengers for promotion to the Football League?
A: The team's success over the last four or five years has been absolutely fantastic, and it means a great deal to all the club's partners, us included. It creates a buzz around the town, which we love to see, and clearly shows that the club is in safe hands.
Q: It's obviously difficult with work commitments, but do you manage to get to games? If so, any particular memories?
A: Not as much as we used to, for the reason you mention - work is getting busier all the time! Probably the most treasured memory for me would be watching Alty v Everton in the 1975 FA Cup third round reply as a youngster.
Q: Finally, can you give us a quick breakdown on the success story that is J.Davidson - how you have gone from strength to strength and why any Alty fan thinking of scrapping a vehicle would be well advised to give you a call?
A: Following a move into our current purpose built site on Craven Road in 2012, the company became one of the of UK's first Authorized Treatment Facilities for the depollution and disposal of scrap cars and vans. The expertise built over the years allows us to offer a first-rate service and competitive prices, recycling some 75,000 tons of metal per year.
The showpiece finale is set to take place on Sunday 5 May at 3pm. With the promotion tension simmering nicely as we move into the final month of the regular season, the Vanarama National League is delighted to announce an Early Bird ticketing offer for fans of all clubs.

Vanarama National League General Manager Mark Ives said: “It’s great to be at Wembley Stadium once again for our showpiece Promotion Final.
“It’s one the biggest days in our calendar and to stage it at the most iconic football stadium in the world is always an honour.

]]>Altrincham 4 Wealdstone 1
A second half that showcased Altrincham's irresistible attacking flair left little room for doubt that there remains within the Robins camp an appetite for chasing down a play-off spot over the final few weeks of the season.
Trailing to a 33rd minute goal and only on level terms at half-time, following an Alex Newby equaliser, Alty turned on the power in the second 45 minutes in a style befitting one of the Vanarama National League's most prolific outfits.
Three goals spread over 25 minutes left Wealdstone out for the count, two of them absolute classics by George Wilson and Lewis Banks and the third scrambled home from close range, with Wilson initially appearing to be the scorer but the plaudits going to Regan Linney, who did indeed get the final touch.
The win lifted the Robins to sixth in the table, and while others around them have games in hand, there must be a renewed sense of belief among Phil Parkinson's players that a place in the play-offs can still be secured if they continue in the same vein at Kidderminster on Friday and beyond.
It was Wealdstone who fashioned the first threat on goal in the fifth minute, and Ethan Ross had to be at his most alert to prevent the Londoners from going in front.
A quick free-kick found Micah Obiero on the right, and, after cutting in towards the edge of the Alty area, he let fly with a left-footed shot that had Ross diving full length to turn it away.
To be fair to Wealdstone, they had dominated possession during those opening few minutes, but once Alty began to find their rhythm, the ball started fizzing from one red shirt to another, for a spell at least.
One such passage of Alty interplay nearly led to a breakthrough in the 11th minute.
A pinpoint pass by Elliot Osborne sent Dan Mooney scampering away down the right, and when the winger looked up and picked out Chris Conn-Clarke on the edge of the area, he flicked it on first-time to give Linney the chance to try his luck from 15 yards.
The shot cannoned into a defender's midriff, though, and hopeful claims that a hand may have played a part in the goal-saving block fell on deaf ears.
Wealdstone showed they were not fazed by the brief bout of Alty pressure and brought Ross into action again in the 20th minute with a fierce drive by Aaron Henry that was beaten away by the Robins keeper.
The clearance chance so far went the way of Alty in the 24th minute.
An outstanding through ball by Linney, measured to perfection along the ground, sent Newby surging clear, with just keeper Marcus Dewhurst to beat.
The in-form winger looked sure to score, only to delay drawing back his boot and shooting a fraction too long in a momentary hesitation that allowed Brandon Mason to rescue the visitors with a saving last-ditch tackle.
What an opportunity for the Robins and what a boost a goal would have given them after what, in truth, was proving a bit of a struggle to impose themselves on their opponents.
In its absence, the struggle continued, and Alty could have few complaints about going behind in the 33rd minute.
Ross looked to have saved the day, not for the first time in his Alty career, when he reacted brilliantly to get a hand to a Manny Duku shot and turn it behind.
But, from the resulting corner, the ball was bundled over the line from close range by Charlie Barker, and to dismay all round, Wealdstone were ahead.
To their credit, Alty dug deep to force their way back on terms in the 37th minute.
Another superb Osborne pass sent Newby sprinting down the left, with Conn-Clarke in support. When Newby slipped the ball to Conn-Clarke but saw him crowded out by defenders, the Alty winger had the presence of mind to follow up and fire a low shot just inside the far post.
There should have been a repeat outcome to another link up between Newby and Conn-Clarke two minutes later.
Conn-Clarke turned and ran at rapidly-retreating defenders, as he so often does, and rolled an inch-perfect pass to Newby on his left, only for the finish to lack its usual accuracy and drift wide of the right-hand post.
The second half could not have started any better for Alty as they went ahead with an absolute gem of a goal.
Newby executed a clever flick near the centre circle to Conn-Clarke on his left and then began motoring down the flank, as if anticipating his team-mate would thread a pass through for him to latch on to.
Conn-Clarke duly obliged, and when Newby controlled it near the left bye-line and looked up to assess his options, the cutback was perfect for the onrushing Wilson to meet it with a thunderous first-time volley into the roof of the net.
It was vintage Alty at their imperious attacking best, and it was almost followed by another goal a minute later, when Linney worked the ball across the face of the area before hitting a shot that was deflected narrowly wide of the angle of bar and post.
Wealdstone began to look increasingly deflated, and the wind was well and truly knocked out of their sails when Alty made it 3-1 on the hour.
Osborne's passing range was to the fore once more as he delivered a ball down the right for Mooney to clip towards the six-yard box, where Banks met it with an unerring first-time shot that flew high into the net.
Conn-Clarke looked as eager as ever to add his name to the scoresheet, and he almost succeeded a couple of minutes later with an impudent angled drive that only just cleared the bar.
Wealdstone were being torn apart, and there should have been another Alty goal in the 68th minute when Conn-Clarke advanced towards the area, with passing options either side of him.
He chose Mooney to his right, but, for once, the livewire winger got his timing wrong and miscued a sidefooted effort wide.
Alty's goal difference was looking better than ever when they added a fourth in the 72nd minute.
Linney cut in from the left and drilled a low shot that was blocked by the keeper's legs, with the Alty striker and Wilson both in close proximity of the loose ball and eager to capitalise on it.
It was difficult to be certain who got the all-important final touch, as the rebound was rammed home, but the congratulations went to Linney, whose hard work and endless endeavour leading the line certainly merited some reward.
Onwards and upwards to Kidderminster on Good Friday and Oldham at home on Easter Monday, and more of the same from a rousing second half here this evening, and Alty for the play-offs will have an ever-more convincing ring to it.

]]>Isaac Marriott has undergone successful surgery on an ankle injury and can now set his sights on working his way back to full fitness.
Altrincham's dynamic midfielder sustained significant damage to an ankle in the very last moments of the Robins' Vanarama National League fixture with Woking at The J.Davidson Stadium earlier this month.
After the extent of the injury was carefully assessed, it was decided an operation was required, and it was carried out yesterday.
Everyone at the club is delighted that the surgery was successful and that Alty's vice-captain can now focus fully on a recovery programme that we all hope will be completed in time for the start of next season.
Isaac's high-octane presence at the heart of midfield has been a key factor in Alty's rise to play-off contention this season, and the way he stepped into the breach and led by example in the absence of injured skipper James Jones said everything about his commitment and influence on the team's fortunes.
We all trust your recovery goes to plan and progresses at the rate you are hoping for, Isaac, and we very much look forward to seeing you back in Alty colours again next season.
]]>ALTY continue their push for a play-off spot in the Vanarama National League as we welcome Wealdstone to The J. Davidson Stadium this Tuesday (7.45pm).
The Robins (8th, 61pts) fell to a disappointing 3-2 home defeat against Gateshead at the weekend, but remain in close contention for a quarter-final play-off spot as just five points separate us from fourth-placed Solihull Moors.
Meanwhile, the Stones (16th, 47pts) will arrive in Cheshire in high spirits having secured two wins and two draws in their past five matches, a spell of fine form that has helped lift our visitors out of the relegation zone.
Hear from the Gaffer
Silver linings in defeat: “It is hard to talk about positives after we have just lost, but one positive is certainly the way that we played in the first half. We also saw the Dan Mooney of old, the player that I have seen in training lately, so it was great to see him able to do it when he was introduced today.”
Necessary to find home form: “Recently, our home form has been indifferent. That is what the team needs to turn around, we have to find the home form that we enjoyed at the start of the season. Ultimately, everybody is capable of beating anyone in the division - I’m certain every manager in the league has said it. So home-field advantage must (be made to) count for something.”
Last time against Wealdstone
Wealdstone 0-0 Altrincham
Last September – Altrincham were forced to work hard for their point at The Vale as Wealdstone threatened regularly throughout the goalless draw.
An injury-stricken Robins XI found possession difficult to come by in a cagey affair, but a solid rear-guard showing ensured we returned from Middlesex with a point.

THERE are any number of varied but equally-valuable qualities Altrincham's army of volunteers are able to call on in the many roles they fill at The J.Davidson Stadium.
Keenness is certainly one - and they don't come any keener that teenage UA92 student Dylan Barlow.
Just a couple of months into his first term at the Stretford-based campus, the 19-year old was still getting to grips with his physical education course when he spotted an Alty stall at a careers fair and wandered over to find out more.
Coming up with a suitable placement for him wasn't too difficult. He was up for anything, and in no time at all, he was alongside Steve Foster in the dressing room at The J.Davidson Stadium, learning the ropes as the Alty kit man's new willing helper.
That was back in November, and, four months on, he's still combining the two roles of studying at uni and keeping Alty's players smartly attired as Foz's right-hand man with an enthusiasm that is infectious.
In recognition of all that hard work, and the personable and ever-smiling way it is undertaken, the club are delighted to announce that Dylan is the latest recipient of a £30 Blanchflower voucher as Alty Volunteer of the Month.
Reflecting on his introduction to Alty, via interim chief executive Sam Mackenzie, and his involvement so far, Huddersfield-born Dylan said: "I've always wanted to be involved in football in some capacity, and I played to a decent standard at Brighouse Town and for Calderdale. I was a centre-half and I got to train with the first team at Brighouse, which was a great experience.
"But I stopped enjoying it when it became really serious and competitive, so it was clear I wasn't going to have a career as a player. That's when I concentrated on getting in at UA92, and when I saw Sam at the careers fair, I went straight over and asked if there might be anything for me.
"She told me to get in touch with Foz, which I did, and when he said to get along to the ground, I didn't need any second invitation. I was so keen to get involved, I was prepared to do anything, but it couldn't have worked out better, because I love everything about the job alongside Foz. It's great - I've loved every minute.
"It's not just about making sure the kit is laid out properly. There are lots of daily tasks that need doing, and there's a lot of work involved in making sure everything is set up properly before games. The warm-ups before kick-off are important as well, and we're out there on the pitch, ensuring everything is where it should be.
"They're long hours - we're first in, last out - and I travel to away games as well, which often means getting back home in the early hours. It can be quite draining, but it's well worth it. It's all great experience for me, and it's a great club to work for. I could tell from day one there's a great connection between the club and fans, and that makes it a special place.
"The players have been really good with me. There's always plenty of banter flying about, as you might expect, and, so far, I've found Regan Linney to be one of the really funny ones. He's always having a laugh with me, and whenever I speak with him, he has this cheeky way about him that you can't help laughing at. I think every team needs someone like Regan in the dressing room."
While several other UA92 students have spent a few days at The J.Davidson Stadium for work experience in recent weeks, it appears Dylan is putting down roots.
"I'm hoping to complete the full three years of the course at uni, so I'd love to carry on at Alty and do three seasons here," he said. "After that, who knows? I'm not going to be a physio or nutritionist, and I do really enjoy the work this role involves. If it does turn out to be a career path for me, it's got to look good on my cv that I've had this much work experience at such a young age at a club like Alty. That should stand me in good stead."
Dylan's family approve, too.
"They've been over to a few games to see me, and they're pleased as anything," he said. "I've got younger twin brothers, who both play. Lewis has a scholarship at FC Halifax Town and Callum is decent as well, and it's good for them to see me working in a professional environment.
"They'll be really chuffed when they hear I've won this award. It's nice to have your efforts recognised, and honestly I feel really honoured."
]]>As ever, the club are determined to keep striving for excellence in all areas and want to forge a vibrant women's team to build on our flourishing and inclusive junior section for girls and fantastic community set-up.
With that in mind, changes are being formulated that are aimed at increasing the flow of emerging talent from juniors to seniors and arming the women's squad with the quantity and quality of players required to compete further up the pyramid.
The women's team currently operate under the auspices of Altrincham FC Community Sports, but the intention is that they will return to the ownership of the football club, where every effort will be made to build on the way several girls have already made a successful transition to senior status in recent times.
The emphasis on producing and nurturing potential is for obvious reasons. For supporters and officials alike, there is nothing quite so rewarding as seeing local homegrown youngsters emerge from the ranks and make the grade at first-team level, and the added bonus is that it can only enhance the prospects of proven talent from elsewhere being attracted to the club.
As an organisation, we are extremely proud of the opportunities currently provided across the three pillars of our club, with our junior section having one of the largest girls' sections in our region and the community company providing opportunities such as women’s recreational football and girls' football fun weeks.
The next step is to provide the girls currently playing in the older age groups of our junior teams with an improved and streamlined pathway to senior level that will ensure we have a sustainable and competitive model in place to support our ambitious plans for Altrincham FC Women.
The team are presently in the sixth tier of their pyramid, but it is hoped that, with a new structure in place, they will begin to climb the leagues and establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in what is, on a nationwide scale, an expanding and thriving women's game.
A working group has been established involving all relevant stakeholders in and around the club and we look forward to sharing more detail of our plans in the near future.

ALTRINCHAM suffered the frustration of finishing empty-handed despite leading twice in an incident-packed Non-League Day promotion battle at The J.Davidson Stadium.
The Robins looked to have given themselves the perfect platform for another morale-boosting win when they went in front in the 16th minute and threatened a second goal with some bright approach play in front of over 3,000 admiring Alty fans.
Even when Gateshead hit them with an equaliser early in the second half, Alty appeared to have the upper hand after restoring their advantage with a brilliant finish by Dan Mooney just three minutes later.
But the visitors had the last word, and relieved Alty of a place in the play-off positions in the process, as they levelled again four minutes after that and grabbed a dramatic winner when substitute Kain Adom scored with his first touch, barely 10 seconds after going on.
It was a stunning blow for the Robins but one that will have to be absorbed quickly, with maximum points being more important than ever when Wealdstone come calling on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
Kicking towards the Venditan away end in the first half, Alty fashioned an attempt at goal in the 15th minute when Lewis Banks held off a challenge on the edge of the area, after being played through by Alex Newby, before dragging a shot wide of the far post.
It was the most temporary of reprieves for Gateshead as Alty went ahead just a minute later.
Mamadou Jobe was made to pay for miscuing a defensive header towards Newby, who controlled it with a sublime first touch near the left edge of the box.
The Alty winger still had plenty to do, but he made it look easy as he wrong-footed a defender with a change of direction before drilling a low shot just inside the far post.
Alty went close to a second goal in the 21st minute when a cross by Matty Kosylo, following a short corner routine on the right, was headed out to Elliot Osborne, who blazed over from a couple of yards to the right of the penalty spot.
A swirling wind was making conditions difficult, but it couldn't stop Alty stringing together a series of slick, smart passing moves, with Lewis Banks getting forward down the left flank at every opportunity and Kosylo, Newby and Osborne all participating in some impressive one-touch interplay.
Alty had been the dominant force for most of the opening half-hour, but there was a moment of concern in the 34th minute when a Kieron Evans shot looked goalbound until Jake Cooper stuck out a boot to divert it behind.
From the resulting corner, the visitors managed their first shot on target, but Ethan Ross saved it with ease.
The action soon returned to the other end as Chris Conn-Clarke earned Alty a corner, after being set up by clever play from Kosylo, and in the pressure that followed the ensuing flag-kick, Justin Donawa had a close-range shot saved.
The Robins replaced Justin Amaluzor with Dan Mooney at half-time, but they found themselves pegged back by a Gateshead equaliser in the 50th minute.
Space opened up in the Alty area for Evans, who seemed sure to score from no more than eight yards out. The Robins looked to have got away with it when Evans' shot was blocked on the line by Cooper, but Marcus Dinanga was on hand to snap up the rebound and score his customary goal against his former side.
Alty were back in the ascendancy in the 53rd minute, and what a goal it was, as Mooney worked some space on the right and curled a spectacular finish into the top left corner to ignite a packed Venditan Golf Road End.
The Robins looked primed to press home their advantage, but, instead, they found themselves on level terms again in the 57th minute when a left-wing cross was headed out to Evans, who controlled it and smashed a shot inside the near post in one movement.
It was an eventful start to the second half, to say the least, but Alty will not have been happy with their defending, which lacked its usual assurance.
Gateshead got their noses in front for the first time with what must be one of the quickest-ever impacts by a substitute in the 73rd minute.
Adom went on as his side prepared to take a long throw into the area from the Pop Side of the pitch. When it was duly delivered, it was knocked down to the edge of the six-yard box, where Adom gleefully volleyed it first-time into the roof of the net.
What a hammer blow for the Robins after being in charge for much of the game, and though they went in search of a point-saver, not least when Conn-Clarke steered a header narrowly wide from Donawa's 83rd-minute cross, it wasn't to be as the Heed celebrated a win that lifted them to sixth place.

]]>ALTY are hunting their third straight Vanarama National League victory this Saturday (3pm kick-off) as we welcome Gateshead to The J. Davidson Stadium on Non-League Day.
The Robins (7th, 61pts) find themselves in the thick of the playoff battle following a hard-fought 1-0 win on the road to Boreham Wood. Meanwhile, the Tynesiders (8th, 60pts) will be eager to leapfrog us in the league table as ex-Alty forward Marcus Dinanga returns to Moss Lane this weekend.
Hear from the Gaffer
Importance of Justin Donowa’s return: “It was perfect timing with JD going out on loan and returning fit. He absolutely performed (filling in for Lewis Banks), but the whole back four have battled today - which we need to do game on game.”
Turnaround in form: “There will be more tricky challenges ahead, more twists and turns, but where we were a couple of weeks ago to where we are now is football. One win can change the season. So we learn from what we have experienced. Don’t get carried away dreaming about promotion, just enjoy this moment, enjoy the ride, and who knows where it’ll take us.”
Last time against Gateshead
Gateshead 0-2 Altrincham (Justin Amaluzor 47’, Justin Donowa 92’)
Last October – Goals from Justin Amaluzor and Justin Donowa secured all three points for the Robins in a meeting between two of the league’s most attack-minded teams.
A feisty edge to the encounter raised the performance levels of both sides, but it was Alty’s clinical finishing in the final third that proved the difference at the Gateshead International Stadium.

]]>April is nearly upon us, so it’s time to announce where the cameras will be going during a busy first week. Matt Smith and the team are heading for Altrincham on Bank Holiday Monday, and they will be bringing to life a crucial game with Oldham Athletic also vying for a top seven finish.
Then on Saturday April 6, we get another look at FC Halifax Town’s promotion quest - but hosts Kidderminster Harriers are trying to save their skins at the other end and know the importance of three points in the relegation battle. The live games continue this weekend - will Chesterfield get their hands on the trophy after a few near misses? Boreham Wood badly need a win themselves, remember.
The Easter weekend kick-offs on Friday March 29 and we see two sides in EFL contention come together as Solihull Moors face Barnet. Before those games, there’s plenty on offer. We also have Vanarama National League North action this Saturday when King’s Lynn Town take on Tamworth, who are nearing the title after an incredible season. A brilliant and busy two days concludes with a South game on Non-League weekend when Worthing welcome Bath City.

]]>Boreham Wood 0 Altrincham 1
Chris Conn-Clarke made it 20 goals for a remarkably-productive season as Altrincham reasserted themselves as bona fide play-off contenders with a classic away performance at Boreham Wood's Mangata Pay UK Stadium this afternoon.
Under the cosh early on, and indebted to some typically-agile heroics from Ethan Ross, Alty grew into the game and increasingly stamped their authority on proceedings against a side who, despite their current lowly position, having always been among the toughest of nuts to crack.
Crack 'em Alty duly did in the 72nd minute when Conn-Clarke controlled a pass by Elliot Osborne and hammered a shot into the bottom corner to reach the 20-goal mark - some achievement, that, for an attacking midfielder.
It was Alty's third win in four games, lifting them to sixth in the table, and suddenly the blip of just a few weeks ago seems a distant memory.
Alty must have been wondering what had hit them following a barnstorming start by Boreham Wood.
After exactly 36 seconds, Mo Sagaf curled an effort that looked destined for the top left corner of the Robins net until Ross took off to his right to pull off an exceptional full-length save at the expense of a corner.
From the flag-kick, the ball fell for Chris Bush, who hit a low shot from close range that brought the absolute best out of Ross once more, as he reacted brilliantly to get a hand to it and stop it crossing the line.
What a start by the home side, and they went close again in the third minute when another corner was half-cleared to the edge of the area, where Jack Payne returned it with interest, only for Jake Cooper to save the day for Alty by getting in the way of it and deflecting it behind.
The storm looked to have been weathered, as Alty gradually began to get a foothold in the game, though there was another concern in the 17th minute when Kabongo Tshimanga worked enough space to fire in a shot that flew narrowly over.
Finally, the Robins fashioned a scoring opportunity of their own in the 24th minute, and it needed an excellent save by Nathan Ashmore to deny them.
Justin Donawa looked up to assess his options after gaining possession on the right, and when he picked out Conn-Clarke with a pinpoint cross, Alty's marauding midfielder met it with a first time shot from just inside the area.
The connection could not have been any cleaner, but Ashmore was equal to it with a superb reflex save, diving away to his left to turn it aside.
The Robins were warming to their task and stepping things up, and when Conn-Clarke skipped past a couple of challenges on the left of the area and rolled the ball to Alex Newby on the half-hour, the Alty winger drilled a low shot no more than a couple of inches wide of the left post.
They stepped it up even more in the 35th minute, with firstly Justin Amaluzor and then George Wilson going close to a breakthrough goal.
Amaluzor seemed to have done everything right after receiving a pass from Conn-Clarke on the right edge of the area, only for his low drive to hit the inside of the left post and bounce back to safety.
It was so nearly only a temporary reprieve for the home side as, within a couple of seconds, George Wilson seized possession and unleashed a rising drive that Ashmore tipped over, stretching to his left.
Alty were finishing the half strongly, and they threatened again in the 45th minute with an accurate low effort from Osborne that again had Ashmore diving full length to turn it round the post.
Tshimanga almost latched on to a through ball in the 52nd minute and might have done but for Lewis Baines reading the danger with his usual calm authority and hooking the ball away from him.
It was Ross to the rescue again for the Robins in the 58th minute after Angelo Balanta played Tshimanga through in space on the right of the area. The former Chesterfield danger man had time to weigh up his options and looked sure to score, but Ross was off his line in an instant to throw his imposing frame in the way of the striker's shot and deflect it behind for a corner.
A minute later, Boreham Wood found themselves down to 10 men after a dangerous late challenge by Chris Bush left Donawa in agony on the floor and the referee reaching for his pocket to produce a red card.
Alty almost capitalised on their numerical advantage in he 63rd minute when Matty Kosylo met Donawa's low right-wing cross with a first-time flick that may well have ended the deadlock but for Jamal Fyfield sliding in behind the Robins midfielder to block it.
Phil Parkinson's men were looking the more polished, assured side, and it came as no surprise when they were the ones to go in front in the 72nd minute.
Osborne received the ball from Cooper and surveyed the scene ahead of him before measuring a pass towards Kosylo just outside the area. A clever dummy by Kosylo allowed it to run through to Conn-Clarke, who controlled it and glanced up for a mere second before firing a shot unerringly into the bottom corner of the home net, to the delight of travelling Alty fans behind the goal.
Kosylo made way for Dior Angus before the game could restart, but no-one should underestimate the value of his final contribution, a typical piece of Kossy invention that threw Boreham Wood's defence off guard.
A second goal that would have made sure of the points almost materialsed in the 82nd minute after Payne was booked for hauling down Angus as he bore down on goal. Newby took responsibility for the free-kick from just outside the area but curled it agonisingly wide of the right post.
It made no difference, as the additional six minutes was negotiated safely for an outstanding away win that sets Alty up nicely for next Saturday's massive game with Gateshead at The J.Davidson Stadium.
Boreham Wood - Ashmore, Ilesanmi, Payne, Bush, Sagaf (Whelan 85), Ndlovu, Fyfield, Balanta (Coxe 78), Agbontohoma, Tshimanga (Marsh 85), Sousa. Subs not used - Sass-Davies, Clayden.
Altrincham - Ross, E.Jones, Baines, Osborne, Kosylo (Angus 73), Conn-Clarke, Amaluzor (Mooney 89), Cooper, Donawa, Wilson, Newby (Hancox 87). Suns not used - Gould, Roscoe.
Goals - Conn-Clarke (Osborne/Kosylo)
Yellow cards - Payne; Angus.
Red cards - Bush.
Referee - James Durkin.
Attendance - 1,007 (97 away).
]]>Phil Parkinson has added experience and pedigree to Altrincham's engine room after snapping up former Birmingham City midfielder Mitch Hancox from York City in a move that is subject to FA and National League approval.
The 30-year old, who operates in central midfield but can also play left-back, has a wealth of experience in the Football League as well as the Vanarama National League and is a welcome addition to the squad as the Robins look to reinforce their quest for a play-off place over the remaining month or so of the campaign.
Solihull-born, Mitch, who will wear number 26 for Alty, came through Birmingham's youth system alongside current Rangers keeper Jack Butland and graduated to the senior squad, where he made 40 first-team appearances for the Championship club before signing for Macclesfield Town in the National League in August 2016.
He scored a hat-trick in each of his two seasons at Moss Rose, finishing the second campaign with seven goals from 39 appearances as Macclesfield were promoted to League Two as National League champions.
The left-footed 5ft 10in midfielder rejected the offer of a new deal in favour of a contract with newly-relegated League Two side MK Dons in June 2018, and he then joined his home club Solihull Moors 11 months later.
After a Covid-disrupted two years at the ARMCO Arena, he moved on to Hereford and was loaned out to York, where he helped the Minstermen reach the National League North play-offs and played a prominent role in a 2-0 win over Boston United in the final on May 21st 2022.
After the temporary stay at York became a permanent transfer the following month, Mitch had another successful loan spell at Hartlepool United last November, and everyone at Alty is delighted to welcome him to the club after he agreed a move to The J.Davidson Stadium.
It's a timely arrival, with Isaac Marriott currently on the sidelines and having the extent of his injury assessed, and we wish Mitch every success in Alty colours.
It can also be announced that keeper Ollie Byrne has left the club, and we would like to thank him for his contribution during his time with us and wish him all the best for the future.
]]>The versatile midfielder, who can operate on the right wing or at right-back, has played an increasingly influential role in an outstanding run of form by Chorley that has seen the Magpies rise to third in the Vanarama National League, just one point behind second-placed Scunthorpe United.
Now he has returned to the Robins, and he is back in time to be in contention for a place in the squad for Saturday's National League fixture at Boreham Wood.
A warm welcome back, Justin, well done on a successful stint at Victory Park and all the best for the remainder of the campaign in Alty colours.
]]>ALTY look to make it three wins in four Vanarama National League matches this Saturday (3pm) as we travel to Hertfordshire to face Boreham Wood at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium.
The Robins (7th, 58pts) produced a scintillating attacking display on Tuesday as goals from Eddy Jones, Justin Amaluzor, Jake Cooper, Alex Newby, and Chris Conn-Clarke felled York City 6-1. It marked our second home victory in three consecutive J. Davidson Stadium appearances, providing a much-needed boost to our playoff chances.
Meanwhile, the Wood (18th, 44pts) have so far failed to replicate the success they enjoyed in last year’s campaign, where they reached the playoff semi-finals, and instead find themselves with just one win in their last five matches.
The Gaffer
Recording our third 6-1 home win of the season: “I am absolutely delighted. It is what we needed. We are capable of that type of performance and those scorelines, and although the (York) keeper has endured a tough night, I also feel that we put their back four under a lot of pressure tonight. The lads have got the spring back in their step, their mojo.”
On Boreham Wood: “It’s been tough. I really like (manager) Luke Garrard, and over the past couple of weeks, I’ve felt (similar) pain. He is a fantastic manager and he will absolutely get it right. They are always a difficult team to play against - it’s never been a happy hunting ground for us, so we will have to go there really positive and buoyant after that result.”
Last time against Boreham Wood
Altrincham 1-1 Boreham Wood (Regan Linney 31’)
Last August – Alty maintained their unbeaten start to the season as Regan Linney’s first-half strike earned the Robins a point at The J.Davidson Stadium.
Ethan Ross, then on loan at the Robins, produced a particularly commanding display between the sticks to keep the scores level despite heavy pressure from the Wood.
